This is a 4 days lowland gorillas & Rwanda chimpanzee trekking safari in some of the best countries to see gorillas. Explore explore the largest primates in the world – Eastern lowland gorillas in D.R. Congo as well as the chimpanzees in Rwanda. Take part in three main activities which are lowland gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk. Do your gorilla trek is in Kahuzi-Biega National Park while Nyungwe National Park is for chimpanzee trekking. After tracking these apes, spend an hour in their presence. Also, spend two hours while doing a canopy walk across the Nyungwe Forest.

Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bukavu in D.R. Congo.
The assigned driver guide will pick you from any agreed point in Kigali, Rwanda and transfer to Bukavu city in Democratic Republic of Congo. The driver guide will help you to get travel visa and other required documents while on the border and this will be done in a short time. The journey can take about 6 hours’ drive and this will be of great day as you traverse through the country side of Rwanda.
Day 2: Lowland Gorilla trekking in Kahuzi-Biega National Park and drive to Nyungwe forest.
Head to the park offices for briefing and get assigned to a ranger guide which will be done after breakfast. Enter the jungle to start the search with a lot of silence, care and guided walk. Get to the jungles to find your allocated gorilla family and spend an hour while in their presence, creating everlasting memories. While in the jungle, meet other eye-catching attractions like Vervet monkeys, colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys and much more with different bird species. After hours of trekking, head to the lodge for mid-lunch and after check out of the hotel room and travel back to Rwanda. You will straight away head to Nyungwe forest national park to a booked lodge for the two nights.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk.
Take part in a short briefing after breakfast where you will be able to hear about the rules and regulations that will guide you while in the forest. You will thereafter be led by the park guide well-armed into the forest and start the search. After locating a troop of chimpanzees (usually within one hour), spend an hour while in their presence as you take pictures, enjoy the stories and their acrobatic moves.
You will as well spot other primates like Vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys and much more. Trek back to the lodge for your lunch and thereafter, head back for another great adventure of canopy walk. This is a bridge that is suspended on a height of 70m and 160m long, giving unimaginable aerial views of the entire lush Nyungwe forest, you will also have interesting time while watching over the primates and enjoy different calls and sounds of numerous birds living here.
Day 4: Travel back to Kigali for departure flight.
From Nyungwe Forest head to the airport in Kigali city after your breakfast at the lodge. Board your flight home from here. But, enjoy your lunch enroute. This marks the end of the 4 days Lowland gorillas and Rwanda chimpanzee trekking safari.
