During this safari, you will as well explore the tea / coffee plantations, combined with community tours, sighting the crater lakes and top of the world hike. Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Drive to Kibale and cultural experience at Isunga village.
Head to Kibale national park after the pick up from an agreed point. The journey to this park takes about 5 to 6 hours of drive depending on the speed but this journey will include a stopover in Mubende where you have some snack.
Kibale national park is one of the most visited protected areas and known mainly for chimpanzees that live together with other 12 primates. There are also other attractions including bird species, tree species, and butterflies.
Immediately head to Isunga cultural community Tours offices upon arrival for a great cultural experience. This will range from cultural dances, music and drama for both the Batooro and Bakiga. Check in the accommodation facility and this will mark the end of day one.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and community tour.
Head into the forest after breakfast and attend a briefing which covers different dos and don’ts – including no feeding of animals, no making noise, keep a distance from the troop of chimpanzees among others.
Continue into the forest on foot with the help of a park ranger guide who will be fully armed to offer protection in case of an attack. Trekking the chimpanzees could last for 3 to 4 hours depending on their location but an hour will be offered to you and during this time, have a rewarding time in their presence as you take photos, and learn their behaviors.
After this memorable adventure, trek back to the lodge for lunch as you pass through the scenic plantations and crater lakes. Proceed to visit Isunga community with the help of a local guide working with Isunga Cultural Community Tours to take you through the different homesteads for both Bakiga and Batooro cultures, explore different crate lakes and hike top of the world, one of the most scenic places in Uganda.
Enjoy the beautiful views of Kibale forest, the 3 crate lakes of Nyamirima, lake Nyinabulitwa and Lake Nyabikere respectively, while the Rwenzori ranges are visible from a distance. This experience will take about 3 hours, rewarding and worth undertaking.
Day 3: Travel back to Kampala. End of tour.
Have a short tea or coffee plantation experience at the edge of Kibale National Park and the local guide will help you to learn about the methods used to grow these very important cash crops. After 3 hours of experience, you will continue on a road to Kampala city, with a stopover in Mubende Town for snacks and then proceed to Kampala. The tour will end after you are dropped at an agreed point in either Kampala or Entebbe airport.
