Your short gorilla tour takes you through border crossing from Rwanda to Congo’s Virunga National Park in the North-Kivu region.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Explore Kigali capital city; drive to Virunga National Park
Pick up by your trip leader ready go border crossing to D.R. Congo Virunga National Park. First, undertake a Kigali city tour with opportunity to visit Gisozi genocide memorial, presidential palace, purchase some souvenirs.
After lunch break, proceed to Congo border where you be picked by our guide from D.R. Congo to check you into the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga N. Park, Congo
Wake up to enjoy your early morning breakfast and meet the team from Virunga park who will take you through gorilla trekking rules. The official from Virunga will also assign to you a gorilla group and 8 families have been habituated for trekking.
Take 2-6 hours navigating via the vegetation, varying altitude as you search for gorillas and spend an hour with them once you have located them. Explore more about Senkwekwe gorilla orphanage Centre which is set next to Mikeno Lodge.
Day 3: Drive from Virunga to Kigali
After you have had a cup of tea or coffee, connect to Kigali via Congo border with Rwanda. You will undertake a city tour in Kigali, visit Kigali genocide Centre, Kimironko market and many other sites.
Connect to the airport after lunch break or be dropped at the hotel to relax, dine and have a night stay.
