Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Our driver guide will pick you up from Kigali airport or your hotel in Kigali city. Have a brief city tour to different shopping malls, local markets and other cultural/historical destinations in the heart of the city.
Thereafter, drive northwestwards to Volcanoes N/Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight stay at the safari lodge.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trek & cultural visit
Have an early morning cup of coffee and with your packed lunch drive to Kinigi Park head quarters. Register with the park and join a briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking.
The trek to see gorillas starts at exactly 8:00am, lasting for about 30 minutes and 7 hours. Trekking time depends on the location of gorillas, travelers’ hiking speed and the day’s weather.
You will spend an hour with a given gorilla family, enjoy how each family member plays a different role, take pictures and utilize this hour to the maximum. Return to the lodge, refresh and in the evening if time allows, visit local communities to meet and interact with local people.
Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking & Depart to back Kigali
After breakfast, drive to Kinigi park head quarters, register and have a brief session about the rules and guidelines of golden monkey trekking. Thereafter, hike to meet these lively and playful creatures.
Like with the gorillas, you will spend an hour with the golden monkeys. Return to the lodge, refresh and drive to Kigali to catch up with the connecting flight.
