Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup, City tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Pick up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali and go for a city tour. Visit Kigali genocide memorial center, Kimironko Market, Kigali convention Centre and Inema Art gallery for a great experience. Have lunch in the city and thereafter, drive north westwards to Volcanoes National park home to the endangered gorillas. Dinner and overnight stay at the booked lodge.
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking & community tour
Today you rise up early, have a cup of coffee and transfer to Kinigi Park headquarters for registration and pre trekking briefing. Track one of the 10 gorilla families in Volcanoes Park allocated to you. The hike to meet gorillas starts at 8:00am lasting for between 2 to 6 hours. Assurance to meet the endangered gorillas is 99%. On meeting the gorillas, you will spend an hour in their presence. Enjoy their company, observe their human like characters, take pictures and have fun with your lost relatives. In the evening, you may visit the Ibyiwacu village and other local communities to experience their traditional life. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Dian Fossey Grave hike & Ibyiwacu cultural Centre
Have a cup of coffee and drive back to Kinigi. The precession is similar to gorilla trekking. Start up a hike to the graveyard of Dian Fossey to learn and appreciate her works as an American primatologist who lost her life in quest to save the mountain gorillas in Virunga region, which were at the verge of extinction. In the afternoon, visit Ibyiwacu Cultural Village to learn more about Rwanda’s customs, beliefs and norms. Watch beautiful performances of traditional dances and songs for entertainment. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Departure
Have breakfast, checkout of the lodge and start a transfer back to Kigali city to catch-up with your outbound flight. Enjoy your lunch when you pause on your way to Kigali. End of 4 days Rwanda gorillas & Dian Fossey Grave hike.
