Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Bwindi Forest
Have an early pickup from Entebbe airport or your hotel in Kampala for a transfer to Bwindi Forest National park, home to the highest number of mountain gorillas in the world.
The whole day drive via ankole plains, farms, plantations, trading centers and Kigezi rolling hills is a great experience with a stopover at Uganda Equator for photographs. Dinner and overnight stay at a forest lodge near Bwindi.
Day 2: 1st Gorilla Trekking & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Getup early, have breakfast, get your packed lunch and drive to the park headquarters for briefing and registration. At 8:00am startup a hike uphill to meet the endangered mountain gorillas. The strenuous hike may be short or long depending on where gorillas will be located that day.
After meeting the gorillas, spend an hour in their company, learn their behaviors, capture live videos and enjoy this lifetime experience. In the evening, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for dinner and overnight at a leisurely resort overlooking the lake.
Day 3: Boat Cruise & drive to Volcanoes Park.
Enjoy a sundowner breakfast on the shores of the lake and go for a boat ride to explore different island that make up Africa’s second deepest lake. Have an early lunch, refresh and cross to Rwanda proceeding to Volcanoes National park, located in Musanze, north eastern region of Rwanda.
Day 4: 2nd Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National park & cultural tour
After an early morning breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to Kinigi Park head quarters for your 2nd gorilla trek. Attend a simple briefing and register with the park rangers.
Thereafter, trek through the thick jungles to meet one of the 10 habituated gorilla families in Volcanoes National park. Spend an hour with a habituated gorilla group, enjoy their human-like behaviors, take pictures and have fun. Return to the lodge for refreshment and go for a cultural tour in the neighboring local communities. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Leave Volcanoes National park, via Lake Kivu to Goma, D.R. Congo.
In the morning, have breakfast, checkout and transfer to Lake Kivu in the west of Rwanda. Spend a whole day relaxing at the sandy beaches, refresh and have fun on the shores of this beautiful lake. In the evening, cross over Via Goma border to Virunga national park in D.R. Congo.
Day 6: 3rd Gorilla trekking in Pac National des Virunga.
Today, you will have your 3rd gorilla trekking experience in Virunga National park. Wakeup early, have breakfast and drive to Virunga Park head quarters for a pre gorilla trekking experience.
At 8:00am, hike into the jungle to meet the endangered species. Trekking time ranges between 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where gorillas will be that day. The actual time to spend with gorillas is strictly an hour counted from the moment travelers set their eyes on the endangered species.
Day 7: Drive to Kigali – City Tour
Wakeup, have breakfast and drive back to Kigali Rwanda. Enjoy a city tour to explore the beautiful and clean Kigali city. Visit different tourism sites such as Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, Kigali Convention Centre and Art galleries among others. Overnight stay at any of the hotels in the heart of Kigali.
Day 8: Departure
Have breakfast, check out and drive to the airport for your return flight.
