Explore and enjoy Rwanda on our customized 12 Days Rwanda Adventure safari. The safari is a prefect package to visit all Rwandan national parks and other tourist destinations.
Safari activities include gorilla trekking in Rwanda, golden monkey trekking, Dian Fossey Hike, Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest, canopy walk and big five game in Akagera National park. This safari starts and ends in Kigali.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up, city tour & transfer to the hotel
Upon your arrival at Kigali airport, your driver guide from our company will pick you and transfer to Kigali. Enjoy a Kigali city tour to explore the beauty and cleanness of this small city. Visit top tourist sites in Kigali such as Kigali genocide memorial Centre, presidential palace, Kimironko market and shopping malls among others.
Thereafter, transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay at your pre-booked hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Have a relaxed morning at the hotel and thereafter transfer to Volcanoes National park in north western Rwanda. Enjoy a 3 hours scenic drive over looking Rwanda’s rolling hills, vegetation and the Virunga Volcanoes. Overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 3: Mountain Gorilla trekking
Wakeup very early, have breakfast, get your packed lunch and drive to Kinigi headquarters for registration and pre gorilla trekking briefing. Thereafter, startup a hike into the jungle in search of the allocated gorilla family.
Trekking can go up to 6 hours but it’s worth it, spend an hour with gorillas in their family, embrace their humanly characters and enjoy this magical encounter. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Golden monkey trekking / Dian Fossey grave hike
In the early morning, choose to either trek golden monkeys or Hike to the Dian Fossey grave yard. Both experiences are exceptional and worth the energy. You will start with a briefing at Kinigi headquarters in the early morning. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Ibyiwachu cultural Centre – transfer to Lake Kivu
Enjoy your morning sleep, wakeup for late breakfast, checkout and drive to Ibyiwachu cultural village to learn and experience Rwanda’s traditions, norms and beliefs. Enjoy traditional performances in form of dances, songs and poems among others.
Have lunch enroute and thereafter drive to Lake Kivu at Rwanda’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Overnight stay at a resort overlooking the lake.
Day 6: Whole day leisure at Lake Kivu
Spend the whole of today relaxing and chilling on the sandy beaches of Lake Kivu. Also, enjoy a boat ride to the coffee island and napoleon island to enjoy cool water breeze. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest – Evening forest walk
Today you wake up early, have a hot cup of coffee, check out and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National park. Reach in the afternoon, check into your lodge refresh and in the evening go for an optional guided nature walk.
Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking & canopy walk
In the early morning, have breakfast and drive to Uwinka visitor information Centre for registration and briefing on the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. You can choose to trek in the main forest or in the sister Cyamudongo Forest.
Spend an hour with chimpanzees, observe how they live a social life, take pictures and enjoy this lifetime experience. In the afternoon, join a canopy walk for great aerial views of the forest, Virunga volcanoes, tea plantations and local communities. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 9: Transfer to Kigali
Have a cup of coffee and drive to Kigali with a stopover at Nyanza ethnographic museum, reach Kigali in the afternoon and chill at the hotel in the heart of the city.
Day 10: Transfer to Akagera National park
Wakeup on a cup of coffee and drive east wards to Akagera National park home to the big five game. You may have an evening game drive if time allows. Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 11: Game Viewing & Boat cruise
Go for morning game drives to catch with early risers feeding in open savannahs. Expect to see numerous wild animal which include Buffalos, Elephants, lions, Leopards, Giraffes, Hippos, waterbucks, Gazelles, warthogs and Topis among others.
Return to the lodge for late breakfast as you wait for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise on Lake Ihema enjoying the fresh air. Lake shores shelter different birds and water animals which you will obviously see. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 12: Departure
Have breakfast and drive from Akagera national park to Kigali for your departure flight back home or connect to another destination.
