Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali airport, our driver guide will pick you up and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park located in south western Rwanda. You will have a brief stop at Nyamata genocide memorial Church to learn about Rwanda’s 1994 genocide and thereafter proceed to the primates’ home. Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking & Canopy walk
Rise up very early, have breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to Uwinka Information Centre for registration and briefing on the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. Chimpanzee trekking can be done in either Cyamudongo Forest or Nyungwe forest but all experiences are worth it.
Spend an hour with chimpanzees, learn their lifestyles in their communities, take pictures and enjoy this magical encounter.
In the afternoon, embark on a canopy walk for great aerial views of the forest, Virunga Volcanoes and other attractions in the neighborhood. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Departure
Have breakfast, check out and drive to Kigali. Drive past the undulating tea plantations, stop for some magical photo moments; have lunch in Butare and upon arrival in Kigali, you may undertake a brief city tour before connecting to the airport for your connecting flight.
End of the tour
