Join our 8 Days Rwanda Safari and Gorilla trekking experience at affordable rates. Go chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park complemented by mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National park to make a complete safari package. This safari starts and ends in Kigali.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to the hotel
After arriving at Kigali International airport, you will be welcomed by your driver guide, a representative from our company. Have a brief tour in the city and proceed to your hotel. Overnight and dinner at a hotel in Kigali city.
Day 2: Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, drive through Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National park located in south western Rwanda. Have a stopover at Murambi memorial Centre and Butare museum to learn more about Rwanda’s history and culture. Overnight stay at Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking & Canopy Walk
In the early morning, have a cup of coffee and transfer to Uwinka Visitor Information Centre for briefing and registration. Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest takes place either in the main forest or in the nearby Cyamudongo Forest. You will spend an hour with chimpanzees, learn their social lifestyles and enjoy this lifetime experience.
In the afternoon, join a canopy walk to have great aerial views of Rwanda and the neighboring countries. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Optional Nature walk – Transfer to Volcanoes National park
Have breakfast and thereafter an optional forest walk to enjoy the morning sweet melodies of birds waking up and other resident primates like colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Vervet monkeys, olive monkeys, Mangabeys, etc. Thereafter, check out and drive north-westwards to Volcanoes National park. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Mountain gorilla trekking & community tour
Today you wake up very early, have a cup of coffee and with your packed lunch drive to Kinigi headquarters for registration and pre trekking briefing. The trek to see gorillas start at 8:00am lasting for between 2-8 hours depending on where gorillas will be that day. You will spend an hour in the company of the gorillas, enjoy their human like characters, take pictures and capture live videos.
Return to the lodge for refreshment and if time allows go for a community tour to meet and interact with indigenous people who live near the gorilla park. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 6: Volcanoes National park; Golden monkey trekking / Dian Fossey hike
In the early morning, transfer to Kinigi for registration and briefing. You can do optional golden monkey trekking or hike to Dian Fossey grave yard to commemorate the conservation efforts of Dian Fossey, an American Primatologist who lost her life while saving the endangered gorillas. Overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 7: Ibyiwachu cultural Centre Tour & transfer to Kigali city
Enjoy your morning sleep, wake up for late breakfast, checkout and transfer to Ibyiwachu cultural village to learn about the traditions, norms and beliefs of the Rwandan people. More so, enjoy and be part of traditional dances and poems which make part of the community. Thereafter, drive southwards to Kigali city. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kigali.
Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, leave Volcanoes national park, via the twin lakes (Ruhondo and Burera) where you will an early morning canoe cruise and later drive to Kigali airport for your connecting flight, after lunch in the city.
